Leadership and Service

  • In the scriptures, Christ washed His disciples feet. He taught them that leadership is not having all ultimate power over those who are in one's care, but being humble and willing to do anything to help others. Today, in our country and in the world, leadership can be skewed. People love power, and often when they have it, it is misused. Christ showed by His example of washing the feet of His disciples that leadership is love, compassion, meekness, and righteousness. There is no better way to lead and to teach than how Christ did when He was on the earth, and now, when He gives His revelation to the prophets.
  • Once, before my youngest sister was born, my mom was not doing very well health-wise, and she wasn't able to do the things she needed to do in order to keep the kind of house she had been. A great act of service was when our home teachers made dinner for us every week. They brought over meals for months, and were kind and generous in other aspects of our lives. I will always be thankful to their serving hands that were humble and kind in our hour of need. They really helped our family, and were such a great blessing.
